Champagne Cake recipe

Ingredients:

2/3 cup of butter.
1 ½ cups of white sugar.
2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour.
3 teaspoons of baking powder.
1 teaspoon of salt.
¾ cup of champagne.
6 egg whites.

Preparation Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 10-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.

Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together, then blend into creamed mixture alternately with champagne.

In another large bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.

Fold 1/3 of the whites into batter to lighten it, then fold in remaining egg whites.

Pour into prepared pan.


Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
